I still can't get use to this. My Tar Heels have lost yet another game. In my heart, I knew this season would have a few bumps in the road. I also thought the comfort of last year's national championship would tide me over until this team started to gel. There was so much to be optimistic about. Ed Davis, Deon Thompson and Marcus Ginyard were all returning. Will Graves got his act together and was allowed to return to the team as well. What really had me excited was the incoming freshmen class. I did have a big concern at point guard. Was Larry Drew II the answer? He is the only true point guard on the roster. We in Tar Heel nation have been spoiled in recent years by the likes of Raymond Felton and Ty Lawson. I could sit here and tell everyone that Larry Drew is not Ty Lawson, but we know that by now. That is not a fair statement but that is the way it is. To LDII defense, he plays on a team. This is a team sport. The TEAM as a whole is not playing up to UNC standards. Maybe I'm still holding this team to the 2009 team's standard. 09's team was a squad for the ages. They were a finely oiled machine. Most of that team now spills oil on NBA courts and not Chapel Hill. These young kids will be fine. If I were them, I would visit the Tar Heel Basketball Museum before the next game. Don't just go, but read and learn about UNC basketball history. It's sad to say, but I bet half the team doesn't even know who Charlie Scott is. If they did, I promise they would play better than they have been.............................
