Ryan Blaney shared classic Dale Inman quote when asked why he rarely does burnouts

While he decided to make a little smoke after his big Talladega win today, Ryan Blaney doesn’t often burn ’em down, as they say. NASCAR old-timers will often remark about how they don’t care for burnouts. Largely, it comes from a respect for the crew that built and worked on the car.

If they made you a car that can win a race, why would you go and possibly mess it up celebrating? Ryan Blaney has some of that old-school charm in him. That’s one of the reasons why he doesn’t make it a habit of burning rubber after victories.

After his playoff win at Talladega, he did a burnout for a bit, enough to make the crowd happy. Tasteful some might say. He was then asked about it postrace, and why it is such a rare thing to see YRB do a burnout.

“Dale Inman told me the winner of the Kentucky Derby doesn’t get off his horse and start beating the s**t out of it.”

A little wisdom from the legendary crew chief himself. Inman worked with Richard Petty for years and the two accomplished a lot together. I feel like I’ve heard Kyle Petty offer the same sentiment in the past, which would make sense.

Some drivers just have a respect thing for the people in the garage and on their crew. They bring you a rocket ship that wins races, you take care of it. But, it’s always okay to have a little bit of fun.

Ryan Blaney gets massive victory at Talladega

Ryan Blaney is now in the Round of 8. He joins William Byron as the only two drivers locked into the next round of the NASCAR Playoffs. It was a close call, but actually not as close as Blaney thought it was. Thanks to a disqualification, anyway.

After postrace inspection, Kevin Harvick was disqualified from the race. He suffered the penalty due to unfastened windshield fasteners. That resulted in a violation of three of NASCAR’s rules related to how cars are to be set up during races.

Thankfully, Ryan Blaney won over Harvick in that drag race to the finish. This would have been awkward to be Harvick’s only victory of the season and then he gets it taken away.

That doesn’t make it any less disappointing for his final Talladega race. Regardless, Ryan Blaney wins at Dega and is moving on in the playoffs.
