Chicago Blackhawks prospect Martin Misiak will join the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League next season after being selected first overall in the Canadian Hockey League Import Draft on Wednesday.
The Slovakian forward helped the Youngstown Phantoms win the United States Hockey League's Clark Cup this past season. He scored 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) in 27 regular-season games and 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in nine playoff games.
The Blackhawks selected Misiak in the second round (No. 55 overall) in the 2023 NHL Draft last week.
“(Misiak) is best described as a complete player who combines his size with energy and tenacity to make his opponents uncomfortable,” Erie general manager Dave Brown said in a news release Wednesday. “His big shot and quick release make him a handful for goalies and is someone who we feel will make an immediate impact.”
